Green Thumb or Bust

Green Thumb or Bust
A yellow dandelion flies in the same way freshly poured concrete does not. A white dandelion is another story – they are like an abundant wish bone, or a wishing well condensed into the natural eye sore of any golf course. If everyone on the planet had a dandelion to wish on, there would not be many left. Chances are, dandelions would become quickly sacred to society. As rumours inevitably spread of their enriching and mystical powers, tapestries would be sewn, symbolising a single weed’s gracious powers akin to the gods themselves.
In a world without dandelions, there is no dandelion tea, no dandelion jelly, and no Belgian beer – and a world without obscure novelty European beers is a world without civilisation itself. A world without dandelions is a world where the word ‘dandelion’ carries the same luxury connotation as saffron or d

Twenty-Five Cents For Love
I am the bubblegum queen.
Spreading the pink with
high self-esteem.
Take me as the bubblegum queen,
become one of us,
there is never a fee!
So seldom are some people comical.
Maybe they don't think it's probable.
To give a big smile,
To stay for a while,
Without thinking life's diabolical.

Please be my bubble gum king,
my bubblegum queen,
my bubblegum dream.
I don't ask more for a smile
As a bubble gum queen

My Spider Wears a Tinfoil Hat
Murder is wrong. Murder is usually, most entirely and for the most part extremely bad when it comes down to it. Shockingly enough, people thought murder was so wrong that they made laws about it. You can't murder people is what they say and they say that you can't harm animals either. That doesn't stop one from killing alien species.
The alien in question was tall, black and had eight legs. Eight long, entirely gross and disgusting legs that scurried away into dark corners with its equally—if not more-so—ugly eyes. Spiders sucked and that is really the point of it all.
There are a lot of options on what one can do when they spot one of these alien creatures. Scream is always the first option whether one likes it or not. The louder and higher the scream depends on where one happens to find the spider. If it's on the floor about fifty or so feet away, a quick “ah” is sufficient. However, if you find the s

Warm Laundry
I'm stuck in a type of an experiment that involves an extraordinarily large laundry shoot. Claustrophobic as it may be, it's one of the most comfortable experiences I've ever had. With five foot thick walls surrounding me in a sort of dull grey arena, the addition of cozy sweaters and miss matching socks really brightens up the decor.
Everyday, there are five pounds of laundry that is stacked up through a laundry shoot in the corner of the ceiling. At first, I let the laundry stack up a bit, until I decided it would be much more comfortable to sleep on an ugly sweater than concrete ground. I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, because all of the laundry was still warm after days of just sitting there and collecting dust.
The flow kept coming and I suspected that there was another pound of laundry being added to the load. I'm always so snug and cozy though, so I don't really care all that much. I just really wish I had

[Gift] Childhood
"So how was school today, Ryan?"
The boy picked at his dinner. "I don't know," he mumbled.
His parents exchanged worried looks. "I told you we should've homeschooled him," Ryan's father pointed out.
"You know, if anything happened, you can tell us. Was someone really mean to you?" Ryan's mother asked, ignoring her husband.
Ryan shook his head. No, no one was mean to him; no one really noticed him.
Besides one girl, that is. He genuinely thought no one would know he was hiding in the corner and drawing by himself, but she somehow found him.
"Why are you all by yourself?" she had demanded in a tone that made him feel like what he was doing was very wrong.
Her deep brown eyes had been fixed on him, unblinking, and her shoulder length hair was almost the same shade of brown. She had been wearing a yellow shirt and white shorts.
"Why aren't you talking?" she had said again, this time louder.
He had open

You are. Don't even try to tell me you aren't because you are a blessing to me and I appreciate every one of you.
Yesterday I saw a snake outside and I forgot the word for snake so I called it a "slithery boop boop" out loud. To myself. The day before that I finally dyed my hair, for the first time ever. I only did the ends, but they're purple and I'm so happy with it.

What's Happening?
Oops, so that happened. Sorry for being so largely absent, guys. Eh, I don't know why I'm apologizing--it happens to all of us at some point or another.
So, a crap ton has been going on. Lots of job-searching, lots of volunteering, lots of reading, lots of spending time with friends, etc. But since there's so much ground to cover, I'll just try to give you a few highlights.
I visited my orthopedic doctor on Tuesday for a check-up on my leg. The PA who saw me said that it's healed on three sides. There's a "dent" higher up on the fib side, but he says I'm considered clinically healed and that over time it should fill back in. I'm still osteopenic (basically pre-osteoporotic), but he said that's hard to tell if it's because of the lasting effects of my injury or the fact that osteoporosis is in my family history. We're guessing it's likely a little of both. There shouldn't be any sort of deficiency going on since I've been faithfully supplem

Kiss of FireMy sly tongue is a dancing devil
Venomous and agile as an adder
I cannot trust this viper's heart
Nesting snuggly under my sternum
My imagination is slowly writhing
With sinuous reticulated falsities
Poetry hides a cunning incubus
Whispering illusionary divinations
And dark chthonian sophistries
As mellifluous as Lorelei’s whiles
Twisting flattery into execration
Becoming what I hate the most
My lips are tainted with poison
A deceitful promise of nepenthe
Bitter and deadly as nightshade
Kisses of a death angel’s specter
I glance behind my shoulder at
The quivering, gliding shadows
Trailing in the wake of my words
They are eclipsing my ideology
Turning all my verities into lies
I saw a shimmering seraph flying
Blazing in resplendent freedom
Fully alive and joyously exultant
But my darkness echoes Hades
A chthonic troglodyte of night
Depriving my world of springtime
I too have abducted Persephone
Bound her in poetic incantations
Words are treacherous shackles
Expressing all o
Kintsukuroi HeartI am broken shards and sharp angles
Every razor edge is wickedly barbed
I’ll cut you if you touch me carelessly
My heart is hard as a porcelain vase
Smashed on the cold flagstone floor
But your Kintsurukoi is so masterful
And your creative hands so talented
That you collect all the broken pieces
And painstakingly reassemble them
Like a jigsaw puzzle of my wreckage
You fill the scars with precious gold
Somehow your artistry transfigures
Me into something more precious,
Complete, and unspeakably beautiful
Than I ever was before I was broken

Cairn of RegretsI built this cairn of regrets
Out of the talus I collected
To cover my broken heart
In a forsaken burial mound
And conceal the cairngorm
That is all that remembers
My lost and fractured hopes
That broke when my wings
Failed and my breath froze
And I fell from the heights
Onto the rough jagged scree
Of my own arrogant vanities
My ghost yet haunts the talus
Upon the windswept highlands
Far above the alpine tree line
Where the chill of old sorrows
Seeps into the hollow places
between my empty eye sockets
And whistles through my teeth
And invades my hollow ribcage
I still stare upwards to the skies
In an eternal pang of longing
If you stumble upon my grave
Let my hoary bones lie fallow
Until the mountains crumble
And the cruel sky burns black
And time itself cracks and falls
Let my lichen shrouded skull
Keep it’s eternal vigil on high
Lest my curse fall on you too

Unfamiliar InspirationYou utterances savage me with a syllable
From above my shattered preconceptions
I hear the beating of vast ebon wings
A terrible feasting on Promethean flesh
By incendiary mercurial compulsions
Transcending my plebeian, apathetic idiom
Drowning me in the exquisite agony of you
Your will induces shudders as chains shatter
And I rise again to meet the challenge
Smoldering in your amaranthine eyes

Cicatrix of HopeAfter the tempest’s passage
A silent rose stands naked
Under the monochromatic sky
Stripped of its glorious bloom
A benumbed and tortured soul
Thunder’s Plutonian laughter
Eclipsing summer’s innocence
Leaving the cruel cicatrices
Of fragrant dreams discarded
Where its petals once robed
It glorious sartorial splendor
With the certitude of winter
Encompassing her imaginations
The distant cadence of thunder
Whispers an unexpected hope
An electric epiphany blossoms
The Master mounts a new canvas
And smiles lovingly at the rose
For beneath those cruel scars
Lies the rosehip of resurrection
And the expectancy of spring

Thank you for your inspiration. Never stop dreaming!
LoreleiMidnight slithers across the hoary moor,
Caressing the ancient standing stones
Violet shadows under which I slumber,
The lichens of mundane social mores
Have usurped the throne of a king
Obscured and eroded the glyphs
That once bore tales of my heroic saga,
Exploits of conquest and ravishment.
My true heart is buried as  a cairngorm,
Bearing the spirit of primordial monarchs.
You, like Lorelei weave your incantations.
The night winds convey your voice,
Ensorcelling me by my true name,
An eldritch aria that woos and awakens
Enervating my innermost discontent
With the shackles of insipid convention.
The old bonds are deeper, more reckless
Bestirring me again from hateful repose.
The familiar compulsion of your allurement
Arousing slumbering, forbidden yearnings,
I tremble, fully awakened and ravenous.
Your mellifluous call betrays your desire.
I can feel its electric  fires enrobing
My dry bones with new, hard flesh,
I shudder and ascen

How To Make a MonsterWhen I looked I saw
The tiny people around me
Living vacuous lives
Engrossed in superficial pursuits
And the artifice of preposterous masks
I don’t know the rules to this game
That you somehow call “reality”
If there truly are any
I’m not part of it
It is some capricious cosmic joke
The supercilious vanity of the lie of happiness
Foisted on the world by our own incapacities
Your love is a disease
And you don’t yet see the maggots
Consuming your ideology of lies
Do you even truly exist
Or are you just a grand illusion
Foisted on my solitude
By the vicissitudes of your inhumanity
I’m Isolated in a crowd
Your laughter has teeth
I feel the bite of you smiles
As you trample my existence
And I drown in a sea of impotent loathing
A storm Is brewing, thunder rumbling
I see it in your disdainful eyes
I see your “happiness”
And I raise you a black destiny
Vitriol and vituperation
You see, I have fangs too
Yes, I have a gift for you
A monster of you
SnowThe storm had caught him unprepared.  The sky seemed so low he could almost reach up and touch the pregnant belly of the clouds overhead as he set off alone from the farmhouse, out across the backyard to the frozen lakeshore.  There was an almost uncanny silence to the New England landscape robed white in snow.  A strange restlessness drew him outward away from the stale routines of urban life into the open wild that late afternoon.  The call of solitude and the comfort of his own imaginations inspired by the crystalline grandeur of the winter landscape seemed an irresistible tug on his soul, as it often did on his frequent visits to the ancient ancestral estate.
The crusty snow crunched under his thick booted tread as he stepped out onto the lake ice, heavy staff in hand.   The lake was oddly devoid of human activity that day, but then it was a weekday afternoon and most people would be about their jobs or nestled in their snug houses instead of abroad in the
