Ghosts Amid the Ivy - Reworked
Outsiders could never begin to understand As they hiss while passing the forsaken ruin Where ramparts lie wreathed in tenebrous ivy They have no memory of its halcyon age They have not felt their souls inflamed By the tingling rush of forbidden ecstasies Of stealing creative fires from the divine Of our cabal manifestation coming to life Once, this place thrummed with wild vitality Two daring minds crossed epiphanic galaxies There, we created our preternatural tulpa Truly beautiful, terrifyingly resplendent Boldly, we sipped those savory secrets Occult impetus fueling each other’s fires We wove enchantments to carry our spirits An amalgamated dream of true freedom Beyond the limits of mortal constraints We constructed a scintillating, chimeric angel Forged as an alloyed avatar of our dreams Stronger and more alive than either alone Our living manifesto took wing and flew Blazing like a comet across the firmament Mocking the paltry heat of stellar fires Transcribing our

If you haven't been keeping up with Daily Deviations lately, here's what you've missed! “The tumbley cadence to this poem serves its message very well.” - @JessaMar (suggested by @Rose-Em) “Interesting poem in which the author describes how to be drawn in into the stories and living their own characters.” - @Malintra-Shadowmoon (suggested by @JustACapharnaum) “For such a short piece I find this really evokes emotion in me - sadness, loss, worry but also love - especially knowing a deep abiding love developed over more than 50 years of marriage, something many people will never experience.” - @BGai, Suggester (featured by @Zara-Arletis) “I love the dream-like imagery in this, and the sense of absent love.” - @SingingFlames “This story offers enough detail to engage the reader without overwhelming - which is a marker of both great flash fiction and great science fiction.” - @JessaMar “I love how frank and unusually sweet it is. The Call of the Rift: A Compendium
The Call of the Rift is a YA fantasy series inspired by historic conflicts between Canadian First Nations and European colonists during the Age of Sail. Book #3 Crest is out now! I did an interview on CBC Radio with a journalist from my hometown, talking about lilacs: the colonial history of them, how iconic they've become in that part of Canada, and how I wrote them into Crest. Take a listen in the June 10th episode on Daybreak North; the segment starts at 54:30 and my interview starts at 59:07. The audiobook is up on
Hello my friends, I am not dead, but things have been rough the last couple of weeks. Nothing I can really control, which makes it all the worse. Job is doing well. I am still working 80% from home, only going into the office twice a week for a few hours each... due to needing to make sure things get filed and what not. I have been playing with my camera more now that I am home, which has been fun - but I honestly haven't felt like doing anything the last couple of weeks, and I think I am slowly getting to the bottom of why I have been down for so long. I recently had to change therapists...(yes, again). The one I found here in town, left the agency, which made me quite sad. I was very happy with her and I had hoped we would have been able to get into my past a bit more other than me just telling her about it. I need to process it; not necessarily relive it in my mind, but find a way to

Indeed, many have lost their jobs, been put on part-time work, have had to close their businesses or faced other similar financial effects due to Covid-19 spreading worldwide.
It goes without saying that artists have also been affected. While right now is certainly a time where spe
